It’s officially summer, which means it’s time to pull out your tank tops, shorts and little sundresses. With all the sunny, warm weather, it’s definitely time to show off the summer body that you’ve been working on all winter. For a little extra confidence, there are safe, effective body lift procedures that might be right for you! You will feel beautiful flaunting your gorgeous figure no matter where you are: strolling the boardwalk, sun-bathing on the beach or lounging next to the pool.

Let’s learn a little bit more about the procedures that can help you feel even more lovely in your own skin.

General Body Lift

The body lift is performed to remove excess skin and sometimes also fat from the torso and upper legs (affecting the abdomen, back, buttocks, hips and thighs). It is a complicated procedure that can take three to seven hours under general anesthesia and involves a difficult recovery period of four to six weeks.

Candidates typically either cannot lose significant amounts of weight, or already suffer from loose (inelastic) skin on many or most areas of the body as a result of age, childbearing or extreme weight loss due to diet, exercise or bariatric surgery. Because of this, the procedure is often combined with others such as breast lifts, facelifts and arm lifts to retain a proper body proportion.

Arm Lift

After substantial weight loss, weight gain or simply from the effects of aging, skin on the upper arms can become inelastic, loose and flabby. Arm lifts, also known as brachioplasty, remove that excess skin and fat. Patients who have significant amounts of fat may want to consider combining the procedure with liposuction.

Thigh Lift

A thigh lift is surgery that removes excess skin and fat from your thighs. The goal of the procedure is to improve the appearance of your thighs by removing the “dimpled look” produced by cellulite. Some surgeons say the procedure is more effective for the front and side thigh areas, less effective for the back and inside areas. The incision does leave a scar at the hip, but it fades in time and can be hidden by a bathing suit.
