ABDOMINOPLASTY Q&A 2016-05-31T21:13:14+00:00

How big is the incision?

The incision extends from hip to hip, far below the belly button.  The ability to wear a low-cut, if not string bikini, is possible with Dr. Berlet’s technique.

Will I need drains?

Yes.  Drains are necessary for 7 days.  Without drains, fluid will accumulate in the abdomen and your recovery period will be prolonged.

How long is the recovery?

After the drains are removed, your recovery seems to accelerate.  It will take approximately 2 weeks before you will be able to stand up straight, without any discomfort.

Will my belly button be normal?

it takes artistic ability to recreate the belly button.  Dr. Berlet’s technique will give you a natural looking belly button.

Will I need assistance during my recovery?

It is advisable to have assistance for the first 3 days of recovery.  If you have small children, more assistance will be needed.  You may return to work after 2 weeks, but we advise you to avoid heavy lifting.
